Amelia Hedgehog is an African Pygmy Hedgehog living in the beautiful city of Vancouver, BC. With an eye for beauty and a never-ending curiosity to explore— Amelia is passionate about art, adventure, and making a difference in the world.
Amelia’s photography series started in 2014 in the studio of her home where her photographer mother Sophia Hsin would take photos of her daily life. She began to gain media attention through the online world and was encouraged by her friends to start a studio and create hedgehog art.
In 2015, Amelia Hedgehog Studio was founded and the first Amelia Hedgehog calendar was created and sold. The studio has since grown to produce creative campaigns and hedgehog art—Their studio motto: Do Small Things With Great Love.
One may ask: Why the name Amelia?
Amelia is named after Amelia Earhart, the fearless female pilot who set the example for women to be daring, powerful, and believing that adventure is worthwhile in itself. Amelia also draws inspiration from the French film Amélie who inspires her to find beauty in the mundane, live her life to a French soundtrack and stay unique to who she is. Like any other hedgehog, Amelia enjoys her naps, finds joy in food puns, loves eating fresh fruit & vegetables and relishes smelling new things.
Amelia passed away December 12, 2017, and is currently survived by Bob the Hedgehog. Bob and Sophia are currently living in Taipei, Taiwan.
